Memorial Day - A Day to Remember

Mr. T and I were at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma this Memorial Day weekend. Floral Haven is known throughout Mid-America for having the largest private display of Veterans' Flags over the Memorial Day weekend.
The Avenue of Flags began in 1972, when a widow brought in her husband's government-issued flag, and asked that Floral Haven fly the flag over the Memorial Day weekend.
There are now almost 3000 Veterans' Flags that have been donated by veterans' families to be displayed on the grounds for this special event.
Memorial Day weekend begins on the Friday morning before Memorial Day, when members of the Junior ROTC assist in raising the donated flags in alphabetical order throughout the grounds of the cemetery. The Boy Scouts of America have taken on the task of lowering and folding each flag on Monday evening to conclude the Memorial Day observance. More than 1,000 scouts participate in this special program.

It just overwhelms me to think of those boys carefully taking special care of each flag and remembering and honoring each fallen soldier as they prepare to fold it and put it away!

This section is the Veterans Field of Honor.
Mr. T served in the US Army for several years. So, I have to express how grateful I am to our soldiers, their spouses and their familes that have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our country and our freedoms!
May we always remember!

Apple of My Eye!

I do believe some of my favorite color combinations right now are the aqua/red and aqua/pink combos. I can remember, many years ago (mmm...not telling you how many), when I was a little girl, my mother painted our kitchen cabinets an aqua color. I absolutely loved that kitchen!

Anyway, you can imagine my delight when I received a box of delicious bolts of fabric from Riley Blake Designs today. Apple of My Eye is the perfect name for this collection by The Quilted Fish!

You can find these fabrics already listed in my shop.
So you might want to drop by the shop soon...I think this fabric will go quickly.

Thanks for visiting:)

Resurrection Day!

This is not a fabric post, but as described in my profile, this is also sometimes a jounal on what is going on in my life.

I have been away from the shop for a couple of weeks, while my husband and I went on a wonderful tour with Dr. David Jeremiah and Turning Point and 600 other people to Israel.

We have lived in Europe and seen many places, but I can honestly say that, as a Christian, this was the most wonderful thing we've ever done!

And, now, just a little over a week later, Resurrection Day is even so much more meaningful, as we spent a few days in Jeruselum at the Garden Tomb site. And, yes, the tomb was empty! Hallelujah!

It's taken us forever to recover from jet lag. And, we have over a 1,000 pictures to tag, but I just put together a small collage of our last day in Jeruselum of the Garden of Gethsemane, the Garden Tomb site, the Eastern Wall and Dome of the Rock that I wanted to share.

I took the following picture this morning at a Sunrise Service. I hope your morning looks just as beautiful!

Going to Israel was one thing on my bucket list that I never thought I'd get to check off. So, if you're like me, and you have a bucket list of things you'd like to do, don't give up:)

Have a wonderful Resurrection Day!

"I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me." Galatians 2:20

Walk in the Woods

Aneela Hoey's Walk in the Woods just arrived and has been listed in my shop.

Have you ever gone for a walk in the woods?

Of course, there is always a little girl with a red cape...ummm I would say her name is Little Red Riding Hood. I think she's headed for her grandmother's house.

The things she sees along the way are the pretty blue birds eating berries from the trees and bushes in the woods and singing a beautiful melody.

And, then there's the toadstools lining the path to Grandmother's house.

And, of course, there's always a pesky fox to meet Little Red Riding Hood in the woods. He greeted her with a smile and she invited him to walk with her to Grandmother's house and have tea with them. He agreed and they merrily went on their way. (I know, I changed up the story a bit, but I wanted a happy ending:))

Be sure and stop by the shop
and see all the other fabrics from the Walk in the Woods
collection. I'll be happy to set up a custom listing for you...I make yard (and continuous yard), half-yard and fat quarter cuts.

Have a wonderful "walk in the woods" day!

I just found out today that my business card was chosen as one of the finalists in The Farm Chiks business card contest! I'm just excited to even be in the running, but I would love it if you would go to Serena's blog and vote for Honey Bee Humble.

Here's what my card looks like on the front:

My daughter, MJ,designed my card for me, and I'm so proud of her and the wonderful job that she did.

A Walk in the Woods

If you're sitting and wondering what kind of quilt you want to start next, check out Moda Bake Shop's Patchwork Chevron Quilt recipe by Jeni In Color Order. It's a lap-quilt size, so it should be very doable in a short amount of time.

Isn't it beautiful!! This quilt uses 4 charm packs from Aneela Hoey's, A Walk in the Woods that you can find in my shop. The recipe also calls for Moda Bella White 9900 97 that can also be found in my shop. I'm expecting yardage from the A Walk in the Woods in the shop sometime this month. I have 1 charm pack and 2 charm pack bundle listings made up right now. So, you will want to convo me for a custom listing with the 4 charm packs. And, if you need the Bella White to go with the charm packs, just let me know, and I can add that to your custom listing.

Now, how easy is that!

I look forward to hearing from you and...

New Fabrics for a New Year!

The new fabrics that I ordered from Quilt Market are starting to roll in, and I am so excited!

Backyard Baby by Patty Sloniger for Michael Miller Fabrics just arrived, and I am in love!  Michael Miller had a new designer contest a few months ago, in which we could go on-line and vote for our favorite.  Well, Patty Sloniger won the contest, and it just so happens, that I voted for her!  When I saw her fabrics in person at quilt market, I knew I had to have them in the shop.  I particular love the soft colors of the aquas and grays. And, then to liven it up, there are some great designs in lime greens and tangerine orange.  I could definitely see these in a sweet baby nursery, or as some darling spring and summer clothing for the little ones. These fabrics are moving quickly, so be sure and make your order soon!

There are some great coordinates to this collection also.

And, for all of the Lecien Flower Sugar fans, you'll want to be sure and visit the shop to see what you'd like to add to your collection.

I'll be sure to keep you posted as more fabulous fabrics begin to arrive:)

Be sure to encourage one another,

xoLynette
